Sweet Meadow Timothy Guinea Pig Pellets

And here we are back again folks with another pellets review! Aimed to single out the good brands from the bad brands, we’ve got quite a list of guinea pig pellets reviews now and boy is the page getting long! All over the world companies are selling cheap rubbish to unsuspecting owners, full of ingredients and make guinea pigs obese, malnourished and often die young.

I discovered this brand on the list of pethelpful which described it as excellent and I noticed that this was actually recommended on the guinea pig forum which is a big deal! So, lets take a look at these sweet meadow timothy guinea pig pellets!

  • Timothy Grass Hay
  • Soybean Hulls
  • Wheat Middlings
  • Soybean Meal
  • Cane Mollases
  • Salt
  • L-ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (Vitamin C)
  • Limestone
  • Yeast Culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)
  • Vitamin A Acetate
  • Vitamin D3 Supplement
  • Vitamin E Supplement (tocopherol)
  • Ascorbic Acid
  • Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Vitamin-K)
  • Colbalt Sulfate
  • Kelp
  • Ethylenedamine Dihydriode
  • Riboflavin
  • Niacin
  • Supplement
  • Vitamin 13-12 Supplement
  • Panthothnic Acid
  • Biotin
  • Thiamine
  • Choline
  • Chloride
  • Di-Methlonine
  • Pyrodoxine
  • Hydrochloride
  • Folic Acid
  • Sodium Selenite
  • Sodium Bentonite
  • Magnesium Sulfate
  • Ferrous Sulfate
  • Manganese Oxide
  • Zinc Sulfate
  • Copper Sulfate
  • Mineral Oil
  • Calcium Idodate
  • Potassium Chloride

Apart from the obvious soybeans, wheat and molasses which is used as flavor, I don’t see anything particularly alarming about these ingredients depending on what the crude analysis is.

Crude Analysis

  • Protein 14.0%
  • Fiber 25.0%

You can see that there is no crude analysis for calcium, but the website explains that they use lower calcium and protein. Watch out if your guinea pigs are prone to getting sludge in their urine because this is due to the calcium compound and you need to reduce your guinea pigs pellets if so.

Overall I’d give this brand a big YES! And four stars 🙂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would be much obliged if people could let me know at any point if the brands I am reviewing change their ingredients at any time. You are also welcome to express your views in the comments below and be sure to ask me any questions or request a review on a particular brand. I am always looking out for more good guinea pig pellet brands to write a review on! Make sure to include 1 cup of veggies, unlimited hay and grass in your guinea pigs daily diet, as-well as their pellets.

Be sure to check out the Guinea Pig Pellets Dictionary for more brand reviews and the food chart for ideas on what you can give your guinea pigs to eat!

First off, love the (new?) website header! Very cute!
Quick question for you on this Sweet Meadow Timothy Pellet review – what is Timothy grass or Timothy grass hay (as listed as an ingredient)? I’ve never heard of it – is it a particularly good type of grass for guinea pigs?

      Hi Marlaine!
Timothy is just a name for a particular type of grass which is very good for guinea pigs and is preferable to alfalfa. I’m glad that you like the new header! 😀

I adore the page header, so cute! Can you buy it in stores? and does it come in a range of sizes?
