Can Guinea Pigs eat Cabbage?

Cabbage is a leafy green vegetable which is used to treat a whole variety of different ailments and is very good for people! However, can guinea pigs eat cabbage?!

The answer is Yes!

There are two different varieties of cabbage.

Green cabbage is actually the worse of the two varieties. It has high potential of making your guinea pigs bloated and gassy so it must be fed sparingly only one to two times a week.

Red cabbage is completely different. In fact, it is is so good that it is recommended up to every second day! It has a fantastic amount of vitamin c with a little bit of calcium and sugar. Give in moderate amounts.

They can have both the leaves and the core if you like. They may not like it though!

    Glad I read this I wouldn’t have thought red cabbage would be good for them. thanks for sharing. Also love the site keep up the great work. When you say they can have the leaves and the core and they might not like it, do you mean they might not like the core or the whole red cabbage in general?

      All guinea pigs are different- some will like cabbage and some won’t 🙂 Some will like the core and some won’t!
