Can guinea pigs eat Belgian endive?

can-guinea-pigs-eat-belgian-endiveEndive is a type of leafy vegetable which is commonly used in salads, but we are talking about a completely different type of plant that is also known as chicory. It is used in many things for its quality taste! But can guinea pigs eat Belgian endive?

Yes they can!

In fact, it has such a great amount of vitamin c and low amounts of calcium and phosphorus in it, that it can be eaten every day in moderate amounts.

    Ok, good to know.
    I just have a question.
What if they eat more than moderate amounts.
    What can happen then?
Have to take good care of these little creatures of ours

I’ve never heard of Belgian endive… or chicory for that matter! What about regular endive? Can guinea pigs eat that too? And just raw? Chop it up or just give them the whole leaf?

Hi yes they can eat endive but not so often as Belgian Endive. Definitely raw! You don’t want to give them cooked food at all. I would chop it up because the whole thing could be rather a lot depending on how many guinea pigs are eating it. You don’t want them to fight over the one vegetable!
