Can Guinea pigs Eat Beet Leaves?

can-guinea-pigs-eat-beet-leavesBeets, including the leafy green tops belong to a rather interesting family group called the Goosefoot family. We know that they can eat beetroot, but can guinea pigs eat beet leaves?

Unfortunately as the leaves are high in oxalates and calcium they can only have them in teeny tiny amounts…

Once a month.

I am glad I found your site. We recently brought home 2 guinea pigs for our daughter. And she is now obsessed. With all the great information you have on caring for our new family members, we will certainly make this a common stop.
These are new pets for us so knowing what they can and can’t eat… like beet leaves….will make the job easier and our new friends happier and healthier,,,, Thank you
